May Homework Ideas
• Trace/cut out hands/feet of each family member. Then put them in order of biggest to smallest/ or smallest to biggest.
• Find items around your house to arrange in graduated order. Use size words to describe: big, bigger, biggest/small, smaller, smallest.
• Observe nature on a nice day and discuss what you see, hear, smell, and feel.
April Homework Ideas
Family Fun Time
☺Play a listening game with sound eggs. Collect 3 or 4 pairs of plastic eggs. Fill each pair with small objects such as jingle bells, paper clips, dried beans, or rice. Tape the eggs closed. Take turns with your child shaking the eggs and finding those that have matching sounds.
☻Grow a potato head. Cut both ends off a large baking spud. Stand it up and scoop the meat out to create a shallow hole. Let your child place 2 cotton balls in the hole, sprinkle on water and grass seeds. Carve a face in one side of the potato, or use markers, place in the window and watch the hair grow!
March Homework Ideas
• Don’t forget the importance of reading with your child at least 15 minutes every day.
• Find circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles around your house.
• Act out, and search for opposites. You show them an action (up, on, open) then let them show you the opposite action.
February Homework Ideas
Homework:

~ Discuss the importance of being kind and respecting others. Make a list of kind words, ways to be kind to others, and how we show love.

~ Cut 5 different sizes of hearts out of poster board. Arrange the hearts by size from smallest to largest, or largest to smallest.

~ Play What’s Missing. Collect a few small items then take away 1 or 2 at a time. Let your child tell you what’s missing.
January Homework Ideas
~ Find circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles around your house.

~ Act out, and search for opposites. You show them an action (up, on, open) then let them show you the opposite action.

~ Help your child sort by color, count, and make patterns with Fruit Loops.
December Homework Ideas
•Find things around your house that are cubes and spheres.

•Predict if items around your house will roll on not roll. Test the items then sort them into yes or no.

•Discuss why it is important to give to others when in need. Donate as a family things no longer needed in your home.
November Homework Ideas
~ Collect and sort recylables at your house and take to the City Wastewater Plant on bus barn road the first Saturday of every month from 9:00-1:00.

~ Make AABB patterns with your child using body motions (clap, clap, stomp, stomp), and any other things around your house.

~ In the produce section, discuss how some fruits are alike/different. Then go on a food group hunt.

~ See how many ways you can add to 4 using shoes, socks, dishes, and utensils (2 shoes + 2 socks).
October Homework Ideas
~ Play "I Spy" with colors, shapes, and letters.

~ Find and trace circles around your house.

~ Look for your first letter in your name around your home and around town.
September Homework Ideas
~ Make a list with your child for the grocery store. Have your child help you go on a scavenger hunt and help locate the items on your list.
~ As you go around town point out signs to your child. Invite your child to tell you what some of the signs say and mean. Then discuss how they keep us safe.
August Homework Ideas
~ Read nightly with your child.
~ Communicate with the teacher.
~ Establish nightly routines.
~ Share your child’s day.
~ Sign and return daily notebooks.
