I am so very excited to have this new group of children placed in my room. We are energetic, fun spirited and eager to begin our third grade journey! I want parents and loved ones to have the followng information to ensure each child a successful, enjoyable daily experience.
My children are picked up from the gym each day at 7:50. From there, we are in the classroom until 10:45. This large amount of time is essential for reading, language arts, science and social studies. Tuesday, we have music at 8:20. Two Wednesday's out of each six weeks we will go to art class. This is a 45 minute window of time to learn from a seasoned art teacher whom is very talented and passonate about children experiencing the arts. We go to art the first two Wednesday's of each six weeks, from 7:50-8:35. Third grade lunch is at 11:20-11:50. There will be times when we will eat in the classroom for various reasons; watch Brain POP, Safari Montage, a movie, special activities, etc. You are more than welcome to lunch with your child, however, I ask that you give a little notice(day before). That will allow for me to make sure we eat in the lunchroom. The kitchen staff work hard to accomodate their child customers. It has become important to always be mindful of your child's standing account. One charge is allowed, after that, an alternative meal will be the only option. That meal is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Salads are an option only on Tuesday.
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday students will bring home their Agenda. This is a spiral notebook with homework assignments and some school news. Please look over with your child and assist them with their homework needs. You are also asked to initial the shaded box to show that students are being responsible and parents are aware. This first semester, homework will mostly be spelling words and ar reading. Math will be added after Winter Holiday. Each Tuesay a behavior folder will come home. Please look over the teacher comment for the week and have a conversation with your child about their choices.
I would like to encourage my students to bring water bottles or sports bottles to sip water throughout the day. It is important to keep both body and brain hydrated. They may keep them on their desks as long as they have a lid. |
