Math Homework Policy
The purpose of this homework is for your child to practice his/her math skills and to help develop good study habits for the future. The assignments may or may not particularly go along with what we are presently studying in class but should be concepts that your child is able to do on their own. If they need help with something please feel free to help your child.
Assignments: At the beginning of each six weeks, students will be given a math homework calendar with the homework for the entire six weeks listed on it. This is done so that students and parents know in advance what is due when, and it can help both of them to plan their week. For example, if you know you have a commitment on a Tuesday night and you will not be home, then Tuesday’s assignment can be done at an earlier time.
If a student loses their homework calendar, he/she may copy the assignments from the classroom agenda board. Also, I will post the assignment calendar on my web page available through the Commerce ISD website: (

Homework grade: Students will receive full credit for having their completed assignment on time. If a student does not have their assignment I will accept it late and will award partial credit. At the end of the six weeks, one grade for all assignments will be entered in the grade book. So, if a student turns in all assignments on time, they will receive a grade of 100.
It is important that students show their work. Just writing the answers is not acceptable. I will not give on time credit for assignments in which just the answers are given. Students will be asked to redo these assignments.
